Cómo fomentar la Autonomía personal en los más pequeños.

La adquisición y dominio de la lectoescritura están basados en un amplio y diverso grupo de conceptos fundamentales para mi desarrollo. En el desarrollo de la lectoescritura intervienen una serie de procesos cognitivos, perceptivos y motores, sin cuya adquisición no me sería nada fácil conseguir una buena capacidad lectora y de escritura.
Hay quien piensa que sólo si no tengo buena capacidad cognitiva, tendré dificultades para la habilidad que tanto preocupa a mis maestros y papás. Sin embargo, los actos de leer y escribir no se ven solamente influenciados por mi capacidad de reconocer las palabras y su significado, de transferir los componentes del lenguaje oral al sistema escrito o de relacionar palabras entre sí para establecer el significado de las oraciones; sino que existe un amplio conjunto de prerrequisitos imprescindibles para mi correcto desempeño de esta actividad.
En primer lugar, requiere un nivel de alerta óptimo que me permita, generar respuestas apropiadas a los estímulos del entorno. Para conseguirlo, es necesario que aprenda a autorregular mi conducta, es decir, que adquiera la capacidad de modular los estímulos que recibe mi Sistema Nervioso (SN) para posteriormente cubrir y gestionar mis necesidades.
Mis terapeutas ocupacionales trabajan para facilitar el recibimiento, el tratamiento y la integración de la información percibida por mis órganos o sistemas sensoriales, dentro de mi Sistema Nervioso Central (SNC); para así dotarme de las estrategias necesarias que me permitan generar respuestas adaptativas.
Por un lado, trabajan mis sistemas sensoriales propioceptivo y vestibular con el objetivo de promover una adecuada higiene postural, un conveniente tono muscular, un buen control de movimientos coordinados, etc. Algunas actividades que hacemos y que me proporcionan estos dos tipos de input sensorial son: el columpio donde me impulso; la cama elástica donde salto; la pared de escalada donde jugamos a trepar; o los zancos con los que tengo que mantener el equilibrio.
Por otra parte, al trabajar el sistema táctil, me permiten percibir y discriminar correctamente las texturas, volumen y peso del lápiz; lo que me facilitará un adecuado agarre y una buena ejecución del movimiento de la grafía. Entre las actividades que más realizamos en Clínica Bimba se encuentran los juguetes de insertado de diferentes tamaños y grosores, la arena kinética, cajas multisensoriales con materiales de diferentes texturas y otros materiales con los que me divierto y aprendo explorando.
Una vez que adquiero un nivel de alerta óptimo, un buen control motor y mantengo una correcta posición sentado, procedemos a trabajar en mesa otro gran grupo de habilidades, destrezas y funciones necesarias para que mi proceso de lectoescritura vaya mejorando. Algunas de ellas son: orientación espacial y temporal (necesaria para saber cuánto tiempo empleo en escribir una palabra o frase), funciones cognitivas (como la atención y memoria), seguimientos visuales y fijación de la mirada, funciones perceptivas y visoespaciales (buscar semejanzas y diferencias, diferenciar formas y tamaños, relacionarlas letras escritas con su sonido correspondiente), coordinación visomotora u óculo-manual (seguir con mis ojos, los movimientos de mi cuerpo), lateralidad (preferencia espontánea en el uso de mi mano derecha o izquierda al escribir) y destrezas motoras finas (precisión motora, inhibición motora, motricidad fina, agarres manuales, función bimanual asimétrica), entre otras.
